Plan + research at least 1 year in advance, the earlier the better
There's A LOT of information to research when studying abroad: course equivalents, schools, location, cost, scholarships, visas, etc. I'm pretty sure you get the gist by now. It takes a lot of time & energy to know all the crucial information.

MIX

less independent planning + paperwork
3 letter of recommendations
The MIX program was the perfect choice for me because I want to study in Korea & the credits will be considered transfer credits rather than UHM credits. This means that my GPA will NOT be affected. However, it doesn't mean I should be slacking.
How to Apply for MIX
1. Fill out MIX Google Forms
Important deadlines
Fall, Summer, Academic Yr: Dec. 1st
Spring Semester: May 1st
ex: My Fall 2022 MIX app was due 12/1/2021
2. Request a Letter of Recommendation (LOR)
Ask your professor, TA, lectuer, etc.
NO professionals, friends, & family allowed
Have the recommender fill out the MIX LOR form
Tips on asking for LOR
I personally dread asking for a LOR because it is like asking for money 😭. However, you need to overcome that fear because they are here to support you in your academic journey!

3. Pay the MIX app fee
$30 applicat

$50 administration fee (charged only if you're nominated & committed to go)
